Minerva's Mercy Bridges Cultures

Meet Minerva's Mercy

Inspired by Roman mythology and infused with cyberpunk aesthetics, Minerva's Mercy bridges cultures in a futuristic vision. Mecrob’s designers spent 32 days meticulously crafting this piece, selecting thousands of discarded parts and surplus components from factories. After six rounds of refinement, Minerva's Mercy emerged in its current form, with a plasma ball—originally designed for scientific education—at its core, enhancing both interactivity and visual impact.

Collector’s Pride: Why Minerva’s Mercy Belongs in Your Collection

Ever wondered what it’d be like if mythology met cyberpunk in a glowing little spider? Meet Minerva’s Mercy. It’s not your run-of-the-mill 3D puzzle. Nope. It’s a futuristic, glowing masterpiece you can actually touch, twist, and show off. Kind of like having a tiny sci-fi queen perched on your desk - minus the drama… mostly.

Let’s start with the lights because, let’s be honest, they steal the show. That amethyst crystal nestled in its head? It’s alive… well, almost. Touch it, and the plasma ball at its core jumps to life with electric currents that dance at your fingertips. Six lights in total, breathing, fiber-optic, all coming together to make Minerva glow like it just stepped out of a neon city in a sci-fi movie. Pretty rad, right?

But don’t get me wrong - it’s more than just a glow show. This is a proper puzzle, 800+ pieces of pure, satisfying assembly. Every snap, click, and fit is like a mini victory. And don’t worry, it’s split into two main parts so you’re not wrestling a dozen tiny mechanical legs at once. Plus, its joints move! You can pose it ready-to-strike, casually leaning, or just chilling like it owns the room.

Now here’s the part I love - the story behind it. Minerva’s Mercy is built from upcycled bits and scraps. Tiny pieces of discarded tech, once forgotten, now transformed into something beautiful. It’s like seeing trash turn into treasure - a tiny rebellion against waste, wrapped in intricate design. Kind of makes you feel like a magician, right?

And let’s be honest - it’s a conversation starter. Friends walk in, eyes go wide, questions start flying. “Where did you get that?” “Can I touch it?” “Wait, it moves?” Minerva isn’t just a collectible; it’s an experience. A glowing, posable, futuristic experience.

So, if you’re after more than a shelf decoration - if you want something interactive, clever, and just a little bit mesmerizing - Minerva’s Mercy is your spider. It’s fun to build, mesmerizing to watch, and, frankly, impossible to ignore.

Go ahead - give it a spot. Light it up, play with it, and let it glow. Trust me, you’ll find yourself coming back just to watch those currents dance. And maybe - just maybe - you’ll start talking to it too.

This was a fun build

This was a fun build. As with all of the kits, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I appreciate the creativity demonstrated in the design of the final product. The little wires, and geared discs, add a touch making the final critter a bit more than just a spider with an awesome weapons package on its back. Speaking of the awesome weapons package. It was, well, awesome.

awesome idea. Can’t finish it.

Amount of money you spend on these and the parts that the instructions tell you to put together don’t go together or didn’t finish tapping the screws and nuts won’t fit together or tighten down properly. Cool concept just glad I didn’t buy the way more expensive one if that’s the way the parts are and no option to have them send new parts or fix the manual.

Cool final product, but a pain to get there

I'll start by saying this was my first build from Mecrob, and while I like to think of myself as decently good at assembling things, my skills are definitely not up to par with what is assumed from this kit. I'll try not to let that affect my review. I do think that overall, this is a fun kit to assemble, and it definitely provides a good challenge. It took me about 4 days of sessions, each a few hours long at least, to complete it. For the most part, I can say I was genuinely having a good time! However, there are multiple issues with this kit that I cannot let slide, and I can't in good conscience give it greater than 3 stars due to these issues. This kit was clearly never tested. That is, nobody with any say at Mecrob attempted to build the kit from the directions, or at least, if they did, they didn't pay close attention to those directions. There are multiple steps in the book that have inaccurate diagrams, one even has an inaccurate number for times to repeat the steps. This isn't bad during the first part, but the second part is where the lack of testing really becomes apparent. Multiple steps are not possible given the parts and assembly described in the booklet. Washers are used liberally, in one case making it so that there is no screw room left to put the final locking nut on, and in another case, too few washers are used to give the part clearance to be situated where it needs to be in the build. The book shows the wrong type of washer used, one much thicker than even the thickest washer they offer. To put it in perspective, the book says to use 3 washers, the book shows roughly 5 or 6, and I had to use 13. That's quite a difference. Luckily I had spare washers from the previous part, otherwise I would not be able to finish this build. It's a shame, too, because this is one of the last steps. I can't imagine getting all the way to the end of a 10+ hour project only to find that the book has inaccurate instructions and the build cannot be completed.
The final product looks cool, but feels incredibly fragile, and I don't trust myself to lift it up and down to be able to get to the switch that controls the plasma ball underneath, so this will likely be a mere bulb spider for me. This is can chalk up to my own inexperience. Parts could've been tightened more, especially the legs, some of which twist and turn freely, which is not good, but at this point it would take too much work to fix it, so it'll stay that way. Overall, it's not a bad product, but much much more work needs to be done on the testing side to ensure a smooth experience for the customers. There were a few steps that had me second guessing the work I just did because the diagram showed a completely different, and might I add, wrong, result. Work out some of those kinks and it would be a much better experience for everyone.

Minerva's Mercey Plasma Spider

Incredible build. Not too complicated and results are stunning. Directions are a little shortcoming requiring you to figure out where certain parts go and direction pictures should be more detailed. If you have any experience and skills with mechanical 3D puzzle you can do this one. Doesn't take too long either.

I LOVED building it

I LOVED building it. The legs were quite easy to do. The head part though... If you suffer from FFS (Fat Finger Syndrome) like me read the manual in advance what the next 5 steps are. It can be easier to shuffle some steps. But other than that.... I'm saving money for my next build. Very recommended. BTW... the stated 16 hours building.. You will come close.

great stuff

Haven’t started yet but finished the Aethercore and wings. Had so much fun building that I’m sure this will be fun as well. It looks very complicated but if you follow the steps carefully it’s very straightforward.
